Larren Odom is a wealth manager with Redwood.
Larren is an avid reader and enjoys all forms of exercise from weight-lifting to running 10ks and half-marathons to yoga and Pilates. But he is most passionate about travel. In fact, the Odom family travels to a new international destination each year, most recently the wine country of France in the Loire Valley and Bordeaux. A fitting vacation spot, since Larren is conversationally fluent in French and is a Board member and Vice Chairman of the Finance Committee for the Alliance Francaise.
Not surprisingly for a wealth manager, Larren and his family plan and save for each trip months in advance, which not only helps finance the trip but builds anticipation. At year’s end, the Odom family can always point to at least one great, unforgettable moment of the year.
Similarly as a wealth manager, Larren guides Redwood clients so the trajectory of their life and financial planning actually takes them to where they want to be.
“Without a plan, people can lead themselves to a type of life they never intended,” Larren explains. “Without being too dramatic, I think it is fair to say a financial plan can be the first step toward changing your life to one that you want to live.”
After two successful careers as a newspaper reporter and a claims examiner, Larren found his true calling working with families, good savers and people who want to develop a plan to achieve financial independence. For his new career, he earned the Certified Financial Planner® mark and holds an MBA with a major in Financial Planning from Georgia State University and a B.A. from the University of Florida.
Larren is president-elect of the Smyrna Rotary Club and a three-year member of the executive council for the American Diabetes Association’s Father-of-the-Year event. He works as a mentor every week at Nickajack Elementary and is the co-chair of the school’s Environmental Club, a group dedicated to improving the school’s landscaping.
Larren is the past president of the Georgia State Personal Financial Planning Alumni Club and served as vice chairman for the 2007 NCAA Final Four Special Events and Youth Outreach Committee.
Larren is married to Jennifer Odom, a partner in the Litigation Group at Bryan Cave. They live in Smyrna with their two children, Charlie and Emily.
