Just like our financial situations, sometimes our career aspirations evolve. When this happens, it’s best to reassess things to see if it’s time to make any adjustments. Such is the case with Pierre, who joined us as a Financial Planner in 2018. Although his journey isn’t typical for our industry, his previous work and life experiences – and his beliefs about what financial planning should entail – make him more than qualified to help our clients achieve their goals.
When Pierre was younger, he wanted to become an international business man. His father set the stage by relocating his family from Belgium to the United States for a career opportunity. At the time, Pierre was 10 years old, and from then on, international travel and multicultural experiences became part of his life. He ended up studying abroad, living and working in Paris and Hong Kong, and extensively traveling internationally for IBM. He also went on frequent international adventures with family and friends.
Nearly two decades into his career; however, Pierre began to contemplate going in a different direction. “It may sound simplistic, but I wanted to make a positive difference in people’s lives – and to make that impact over and over again,” he explains. “When I decided that my career was not providing me with that type of fulfillment, I did some self-reflection and research to figure out my next path.”
He concluded that fee only financial planning was the right choice. The path to making a career change often times has moments of uncertainty. However, he kept his focus, determination and a positive attitude and, in 2017, he completed his Certified Financial Planning® education and passed the CFP® exam.
“I dove into a big unknown after a successful career at IBM for 17 years. Thanks to my wife’s support – and patience and commitment – I now have this wonderful opportunity to pursue my chosen path.”
Pierre says he also feels fortunate to work for a firm that has a great culture, family values, and an excellent reputation.
“I waited to find a firm that was the right fit. I share Redwood Wealth Management’s values – my nature is to act with integrity and transparency and to provide services that have the clients’ best interests in mind.”
Collaboration and teamwork are important to him too. “I truly believe in the team win. I’m fulfilled when we make a difference in our clients’ lives, whether I had a small part or large part in that success.”
Pierre resides in East Cobb with his wife, Meredith, twin sons, Jake and Nico, and their two golden retrievers. In addition to traveling and enjoying quality time with family and friends, he enjoys outdoor activities, such as tennis, golf, kayaking, triathlons and mountain biking.
